learning to push???

so my almost 3 week old is very fussy. i talked to the public nurse that visits about it and she says that she’s learning to push stool. it makes me so sad tho because she looks like she’s in pain. she cries so hard and pushes and clenches so hard. i feel so bad for her. i bought gripe water to see if that would help because she seems gassy, so ill find out tonight. but how long will this last:( its so hard hearing her cry like that.

You sure it’s gas? Overtired newborns can look like they have gas… https://takingcarababies.com/gassy-baby-at-night

@Siobhan she’s definitely sleeping well. but when she wakes up i see her tense completely up and push:(

@Siobhan it’s also during the day not just at night :(

Burp after every fed. Try reducing your dairy intake in BF and try chiropractor. Those things worked for my 5 week old and his gas

Mine does the same thing. Hopeful they can grow out of it.

My 3w/o is the exact same!

@Allie have you found anything that helps? i bought OVOL last night which i think has helped a little bit. and also helping her stretch her legs, bike motion and knees to chest

My 1month do the same.. is so hard seeing her trying to push and not being able to poop :( she was like 2 days without pooping and someone recommended probiotics to me and it worked but now everyday we don't use it she is not able to poop so I'm worried she won't be able to do it without??

@Madyson I just ordered a baby probiotic so when I’ve tried it I’ll report back. Ovol didn’t help my older kids, nor did gripe water. We used KOLIK by Borion for my third and it was also hit or miss.

@Blanca my daughter is pooping normal but constantly pushing and looks in pain:( her poops are normal texture, not bally at all and she’s passing gas and burping fine. it’s just the pushing:(

@Allie i used OVOL last night and she seems a bit better today, let me know how the probiotic is and maybe i’ll try that

Recommend looking at: bloomdpc on instagram. She’s a pediatrician and She had a bunch of newborn videos on what’s normal.

@Siobhan thanks i’ll check her out !!

@Madyson day 3 of drops and she is less gassy The biogaia probiotics

My one month old starting doing the same thing around 3 weeks! Our osteopath showed us some exercises (like moving her legs in a bicycle motion) to help her poop and she seems to like it

This is reassuring to read my 4 week old is the same - she is going regularly but every time she is trying so hard to push
