I am also due the beginning of January. I am planning on working until end of November and stopping in December. All being well 🤞
I went for an emergency scan on the Friday (which was my last day before starting maternity). I was expecting to go to my scan have a fabulous work lunch and have a few weeks at home. Instead they admitted me and I had them on the Saturday. Which was on my birthday by the way. They were born 35 weeks and 3 days.
Trust me the exhaustion doesn’t get any better, i only stopped working because i had PGP and preeclampsia
I had a planned section so I worked till the week before I had them. I really wanted to do the week before. I had them 32+1
I had planned c-sec at 37 weeks, stopped working at 34 weeks - I WFH and have a toddler, so was bloody exhausted and mentally useless. I wish I'd just gone off sick with something undetectable like restless leg syndrome, but I felt like I had to get everything in order at work. I'd use all the sick days possible, they don't count towards your record. Just look after yourself, primarily.
I’m a care manager so I know exactly how much you’ll be on your hands and knees...I take my hat off to you!! I took all my holidays in 1 and started maternity leave a week early, so I was off 5 weeks before they came. Make sure your managers doing lots of risk assessments for you and they should tailor your run to your needs.
I worked in a nursery up to 30/31 weeks with twins
