Gatwick Airport security

Question for those who have taken their little ones on holiday specifically through Gatwick Airport (as I’ve been told each airport is different) do you know if you can take boiling water in a flask and cool boiled water in another bottle through airport security? I’ve read the Gov website and other bits online but it’s still such a grey area!! Some things are looking like I can only take the sterile (cool boiled) water in his baby bottles but if I do that I can’t put the boiling in first to add the formula in?🙃🙃 I really hope that makes sense.. struggling for answers and just want to make travel easier!! Doesn’t help my boy will not take premade milk, I’ve tried everything but he won’t have it unless it’s warmed - we use mam bottles which aren’t the easiest to warm especially out and about!! Any advice is seriously appreciated, getting very stressed out trying to find the answers😩

I flew through Gatwick 2 weeks ago just take your powder all the coffee/ food places where so helpful giving us boiled water and then I brought a large bottled water from shop as that’s sterile, hope it helps x

@Zoe amazing thank you! What bottled water did you use as I was told by health visitor only some are considered “safe” for baby! X

I think it was Buxton, or could make completely with boiling water and it will stay warm in thermal bag for bout 4 hours x

I was able to take my flask last month

I work in security at Gatwick airport. On mat leave though so this was the case when I was last there. You should be fine to take both through with you. They will need to test both the flask and the bottle in a machine (won’t open them) and it shouldn’t be a problem. If for any reason they decide to take the boiled water off you, the pubs and restaurants after security will be more than happy to fill the flask back up for you again. So no need to stress and worry, you should be absolutely fine with what you’re planning to take through. Just be aware the baby lane/assistant lane can take a little longer to process passengers as there are more checks carried out on that lane then any other as people are being prams through and over sized liquids so just factor the extra time into account ☺️ xx

Your powder needs to be sealed as well so order to boots or bye fresh lot before x

I went through south end the other week and they poured my boiling water from my flask away on receiving end of security. We just got it refilled at restaurant after security but use the nuby rapid cool so did have the cooled water but helpful as we did need to prepare a bottle at airport and obvs lots quicker then waiting for it to cool x

Thank you everyone!! That’s definitely really helped! I wish they’d make it easier to understand online what you can and can’t do so thank you for the help😊xx

It was completly different flying home too we flew from Palma Mallorca and took half a tin formula , water in the flask and it didn’t even get stopped checked nothing x

@Kayleigh that’s where we’re going! I did wonder how strict they’d be so that’s good to know! Thank you!! X

No worries!. was the same abit stressed etc because it was first time flying with a baby but it will all be fine and I think I sort of over panicked. Enjoy your holiday ☺️ xx

@Kayleigh thanks lovely!🥰x

You can take boiled water and I took a regular water bottle and said it was cooled boiled water and they were fine with it.
