@Anna I’m asking more about like environmental choices like did dimming lights help, music, if I could bring like my own string lights or things of that nature to make the birthing space more comfy and welcoming
@Bella you would have to ask your hospital what's allowed as a hospital setting for a birth is very different than a birthing center. Birthing centers are much more lax about things while hospitals are a bit more strict when it comes to their space.
I used white noise with my first. Also try an make it feel as homey as you can I got one of those essential oil diffuser necklaces and put my favorite lavender on it and it helped a lot actually.
@Bella oh yeah you can dim the lights or not have any at all
My birth plan went great for about 5 min then it went out the window due to needing an emergency c section HOWEVER, I will tell you what I had on mine 1. No epidural(😂) 2. Use of yoga and peanut ball 3. Music playlist. 4. Lights off 5. Aromatherapy(I brought a spray and roller) 6. I had a fan that I attached to my bed HIGHLY RECOMMEND. 7. I had 2 birth partners(husband and friend) 8. No guests 9. Delay cord clamp 10. Golden hour 11. If your room had a tub or shower labor in there(I used the shower with my first, didn’t get a chance to use this time) Look up a printable birth plan. I filled it out and gave to my nurse. I can’t remember what all was on there.
I actually typed and printed my birthing plan to give to the nurses and midwife looking after me. A few of the things I included for environment were that I was going to play my own music (I made a playlist specifically for me to listen to while in labor), the lights were to be dimmed, only female medical staff unless necessary, my hospital also has temp controls for each room so I had mine set to 70-72°F, as well as minimal medical staff so I didn't fet overwhelmed by too many people. I also put on it that I wanted my baby semi wiped off before skin to skin because I have sensory issues.
I got the epidural when it got too uncomfortable for me and then I used the peanut ball! It’s so comfortable and helped me sleep
