I’m going on maternity 38 weeks + 2 days. I was going to go at 39 weeks but it’s so close to Christmas I don’t think I’ll be able to 🤣. Luckily my employer will let me sit down when I need to x
I made it to 36 weeks, then I used 3 weeks of holiday before officially starting my maternity leave.
i planned to go on maternity at 39 weeks, however went into labour at 38 weeks so started it then. i’m a chef in hospitality so i’m in the back so we had a stool that i could take 10 mins to sit down on if i needed to. my employer was fabulous about making sure i could have a quick rest if needed to otherwise i wouldn’t have managed it that far along!
I work in McDonalds as a manager and i’m going off on November 11th, Due December 23rd - I originally planned to stay on til my due date but there isn’t many accommodations they can make for me so having to go off a bit earlier x
I worked in hospitality when I was pregnant and I worked until I was 37 weeks then used 3 weeks of holiday to take me up to 40 weeks (my LO was born 40+1) but I also made it very clear to my boss that I needed to take routine breaks to sit down if I was going to be working long hours as my ankles would go up like balloons and be really sore 😂
I actually run a pub and I’m taking mine the first minute I can (1st Novemer), I’ll be 29 weeks but I’m having identical twins meaning I’d be having them anytime between then and 34w due to complications too. Even without complications, I really struggle now (26w) with long days, running food and running the stairs (cellar down and kitchen is located upstairs). Early in the pregnancy, I had to change my hours to strictly just days as I was too tired by the evening to work the late party nights, but also didn’t want to put myself at risk with the busy and drunk crowds. Another thing I’m finding is now I’m getting further, toilet breaks are a lot more often and I’ve got to be realistic in how efficient I am these days compared to others. If I was in an office job and sat down all day then I’d continue for longer but unfortunately hospitality has a lot of cons. X
When I was pregnant with my first I worked in fast food as I’d just moved to the area so took the first job I got just so I had something to do while I looked for something I was more interested in I planned to go on maternity as close to my due date as possible but unfortunately I suffer from severe PGP during my pregnancies so had to go on sick at 14 weeks because I physically couldn’t do the 10 hour shifts due to being in agony with my hips 😅 with my second the PGP started at about 10 weeks and with this one it’s started straight away but I haven’t been back to work since 2022 anyway due to back to back pregnancies so I can get them all out of the way then go back once they’re all at school 😅
I work in hospitality and I’m going on maternity leave on October 28. This is because the hours are too long to work and I’m on my feet too long. By this point, I will be 31 weeks pregnant Due 8th Jan 2025 however I am high risk and he can come any time which is another reason why I’m leaving early also the busiest time and hospitality is over Christmas and usually Christmas starts in November for hospitality staff x
