Ovulation tests are confusing

I’ve just started tracking, because my cycles are long and irregular (although average out at 37 days). Initially was testing in the morning- but then read that apparently it’s better to test in the afternoon. Got a test this afternoon that appeared to be the strongest so far- so tested again this evening and back to being super low…? I’m just a bit confused. Is this normal? Should I be doing something different?

It’s normal, just keep tracking ideally around the same time every day/afternoon

@Leah thank you. What time of day do you find is best?

I usually test first thing in the morning and when I get home from work around 4.30pm

I would just make sure you take a test at least from cycle day 12-17. It looks like you missed cycle day 14 in testing?

@Stephanie I could’ve sworn I tested so maybe I just forgot to add it to the app! But I track my cycles on Clue and it predicts that I’m not due to ovulate for another 6 days…which seems so late compared to most people on here! But like I say this is my first time testing so we’ll see

@Alex good luck! I know people with longer cycles ovulate later than people with shorter cycles. If your cycles are 37 days, then it would be normal to ovulate later.

@Stephanie thanks for the insight. Gosh all this feels like it’s messing with my head already and it’s only the first month trying 😂

I just started going through fertility medications as I've been trying for 8 months. I'm following what my doctor says and I'm kinda numb to the whole TTC now lol

@Alex it doesn’t matter too much, maybe 1 or 2pm? Then when it started to rise, once in the late morning and once at night so you can get a better idea of when your peak is
