Private IVF & NHS

Hi, we were referred for IVF at UCLH Hospital in London last month. We’re dtill waiting to be triaged and we’ve been trying for almost 3 years and had 2 miscarriages. I've seen online that some couples have been able to get go through IVF privately once, but still qualify for the NHS treatment afterwards. How can I find out if this is possible for us?

Hi Sophany, try this NHS IVF calculator - it’s tells you of you qualify for NHS funding and what you qualify for - number of rounds, transfers etc..

I'm 35. Nhs said I'm not eligible for ivf with nhs

Hey - it depends on a few factors. We were on the NHS, then went private and then again on the NHS. I see you are based in Highbury, Islington offers 2 rounds, we were in Camden who offered three ( but the way it works is 3 including whatever u have done privately - so if u do one round w them, 1 private, you can come back for a third, not for two spare ones!) Feel free to message me if you’d like. Have been w UCLH for 3 years, and dont want to discourage you ( it also depends on lots of factors and your own situation) but I would avoid. I truly believe we are where we are right now ( = nowhere) bcse of the poor care received. If there is one thing I could change, it would be not have gone that route. We are exploring abroad rn and honestly it is appalling to see everyone else we meet turning to other avenues, are here because they have all had awful experiences on the NHS. That being said, you might be in a much better place, w a “simpler” issue, its all very random!
