Natural modified FET - is there any risk of ovulating before a trigger?

I'm doing a natural modified FET which includes 5 days of letrozole and then an Ovitrelle trigger. I suppose there's scans leading up to the potential ovulation day but just wondering if there's any risk one may ovulate before doing the trigger i.e. if one ovulated in between the last and the next scan. Thanks x

Hi, I have done the same protocole. There is the risk of natural ovulation but it’s less likely than in a standard natural protocol. You will be closely monitored to trigger before your natural LH peak. My doctor had me come every other day for an ultrasound close to trigger with blood test every time to make sure my LH was not starting to rise. Usually if your lining looks good, they do the trigger when your leading follicule(s) reach 16mm+ and your transfer is 7 days later.

I, too, had this same plan. Thankfully, I am aware of my body so well that i knew i was about to ovulate, and they got me in sooner for retrieval.

It happened to me on the FET cycle where I had my daughter. I was using the same protocol and I’ve noticed that I have quite short LH surges when tracking ovulation which may be the cause in my case. I went in the Thursday for the tracking scan and the follicle was small and because of the weekend I was booked in on the Monday for the next one. I always get pain with ovulation so I knew the Sunday night it was happening/about to happen but told them at the scan the next day. Sure enough they could tell from the scan I had ovulated as they could see the corpus luteum. I think they had to carefully work out timings for the actual transfer but it all worked out even when I did ovulate naturally!
