Midwives or OBGYN?

Has anyone explore using midwives (UW midwifery) vs OBGYN (northwest women’s healthcare or UW OBGYN)? I’m really hoping for a natural birth so researching this decision - curious if anyone has looked into these and how you ultimately decided

I did not look into those specific providers but in general I considered in case an intervention was required like C-section then that would be performed by an OB, so I took the decision to go with OBGYN.

I used midwives at Evergreen hospital my whole first pregnancy and then ended up needing a C section (planned but last minute) and had a great OB. A friend of mine delivered at Northwest Hospital and used the midwives and had a good experience with them.

Im going through Swedish First Hill & using an OB just in case but their Labor & Delivery team is made up of midwives so I feel I will get the best of both worlds. I also will have a doula who will advocate for my birth plan

I went to Swedish Issaquah midwives and they were amazing, I love that it was still a part of the hospital because my pregnancy went from low risk to high risk within 24 hours so they walked me across the hall and just like that I was transferred to the OB for the remainder of my pregnancy. They knew how to take care of me and when to let go of me but even after being transferred they checked in on me at least every other day during my hospital stay. Highly recommend!

I gave birth at Evergreen with midwives. I planned for a natural birth but I was in too much pain because my son was in the wrong position and I gave birth that way. I ended up getting an epidural and my son had shoulder dystocia. Everything was fine in the end though. The midwives stayed with me the whole time but the nurse who was there for my birth was the real hero for me.
