IUD birth control

Has anyone had the hormonal IUD after giving birth. Does it effect your period length, first period after getting it send currently on day 11! Also bad cramping for whole time. I had it before I was pregnant and didn’t have any issue?

I had it and had two weeks ish of spotting/light bleeding but not cramping x

@Hattie thanks , it’s definitely not spotting so maybe I should get looked at. I have always had very heavy periods before.

I got the myrena or whatever and have been spotting/light bleeding for a month 😭😭

I think It's dependent on which one you had. One is with cramping and heavy bleeds, another is without cramping and small to spotting on periods.

@Spendilove Osei thanks , this was the kyleena one.

The hormonal one shouldn't make your periods heavier from what I've heard

I had called and asked when it had been 2 weeks of bleeding and I know different ones but prolly same concept for concern... they told me with myrena that 3-6 months irregular periods is normal and to only be concerned if I bleed through a pad in an hour

@Moira thanks . Not sure if that much but is through the heavy flow tampons in two hrs. Thanks for help.

Girl u could get spotting/ period like bleeds for up to 6 months. It wont make it heavier and should lighten it up n could eventually stop (i had one before pregnancy and it ended up stopping my period after 6 months). had mine put in 2 weeks ago again n had a week of discharge and now am having a period? I go through 2 pads a day more because i feel dirty than out of actual need. If you have concerns go and speak to a sexual health clinic and they will help you out and advise as necessary 💜

You can also go to the clinic n get positioning checked and ask for meds to soothe it. I did that duribg my first time. Theyll give enough for a week and youll be good after 💜

I got the kyleena and have had maybe 3 periods in over a year. The first one was worst but since then they are short and sweet and very spaced out!

@Sam thank you , that’s useful to know . I had the Mirena before so wasn’t aware of this.
