Any teachers or early years workers here?
Basically cut a long story short I went on may leave in January 24 had my baby a few days into maternity leave and planned on taking the year, in June when my baby was 5 months old I found out I was pregnant again! Ever since iv been in a bit of a whirlwind and I’m soo unsure of what’s going to happen in terms of maternity leave! My paid maternity has already ended for my for my first baby born in January which I was prepared for and obviously I would be going back in January 25 was my thought but now I’m due at the very beginning of February so I’m totally unsure what’s going to happen in terms of pay iv tried to ask multiple times but no one seems to have any answers for me iv been told by some that I will not be entitled to SMP again and some are saying that I will has anyone been in this circumstance before?

Early Years practitioner 🙋🏽♀️ Hmm it all depends on your work’s Maternity policy really… Would it be possible to ask them for this? It’s really sad that no one is giving you a straight answer!

@Nirya iv spoke to work and to people that my work have referred me to and I keep put here there and everywhere and no body really knows the answer to what’s what so I’m currently under the impression that I may not be entitled to anything! X

Do you have a maternity policy you could refer to at work? My understanding is that you’d be entitled to SMP as it’s paid by the government. You may not be entitled to enhanced maternity pay provided by your employer. Maternity Action (a charity) has an excellent free phone line and they will be able to confirm your entitlement to SMP.
