UTI?

So my last appointment was only 10 days ago so I had my urine tested and I haven’t been contacted at all although the results haven’t been added onto my badger notes app (I find they aren’t very good at updating it lol it’s only got a couple of results in the rest are blank). Anyway today I feel like a bit ‘burny’ down there but I can’t tell if it’s from my urethra or vagina, it doesn’t really burn when I pee. I do have to pee really frequently and have the urge to pee all the time but that’s just normal too as baby is head down on my bladder. Would I call the doctor for this or would I call the community midwives number? My next appointment isn’t for another 2 weeks.

I would always call the doctor if I didn’t have a midwife appointment that week. My doctors lets me pop in and do a sample then they call me later if they find anything bad

Was your urine actually sent off to be tested? My midwife does the dip stick thing in front of me and is able to let me know if there's anything that might be out of the ordinary straight away.

They do the dipstick and if anything bad comes up they will give me a pregnancy safe antibiotic but they also send it off for more detail

I’ve had a UTI during pregnancy but am cystitis prone (all my life). Intimacy brings it on for me (miserable) and I have to go to great pains to prevent them (infections) from getting a hold, I take D-manose in the day, to sodium citrate sachets before as a precaution and practice good hygiene, showering, (but not when pregnant, just in case) etc (being specific here to help other women) Usually, it goes away by itself but this time, I couldn’t shift (reduced immunity?). Long story short, I had to have cefalexin antibiotic because I didn’t want it going to kidneys - I’ve had nephritis before - most excruciating pain ever - don’t want that in pregnancy. Midwife can contact hospital on your behalf if urine sample sent off to labs - let her action that as mine did, she might even have better access to your notes. Could be baby head down irritating you or could be UTI. Get another dipstick test and get clarity regarding results 👍🏻

@Hannah mine does the dip stick too they never say anything so assume everything looks fine when they do it

Well today I have no issues at all no burning feeling, baby is defo higher up today I think maybe she was pressing on nerves yesterday and that might have caused it! I’ll keep an eye but I don’t think it’s a UTI anymore. If I have anymore sensations I’ll call ☺️

They would tell you if they thought there was an issue and they would tell you it's being sent off to be fully tested. Glad it's better x
