How do you go about getting a sperm donor?

Hi, Can anyone give me some ideas on how you go about getting a sperm donor? How does it all work? Do you go through the doctors, private?.. I've been wanting my second baby for 9 years now, but unfortunately, I haven't met a decent guy in a very long time. I'm now nearly 37 and single mum to amazing 10 year boy, who really wants a little brother or sister. All i seem to think about is having another baby and turning the spare bedroom into a nursery. So I'm thinking about going for a sperm donor, but I'm so unsure where to even begin. Any advice would be wonderful 😊 Thank you in advance

Depends how you want to conceive. IVF clinics already have arrangements in place with most well-known sperm banks and staff who communicate with them: Cryos, Fairfax, LSB, etc,. If you go down the route of IVF, you must have secured and shipped in your donor material before beginning but probably not before a consultation, tests, scans - as you may want to check egg viability before buying sperm. There are other ways to conceive, using natural cycles and even door-to-door sperm delivery (liquid nitrogen containers) or even ‘professional sperm donors,’ (unregulated, potential safety risks). I assume you want to use a bank? YouTube, ChatGPT, London Sperm Bank are good places to start research. Anymore Qs - ask! 💖

Thank you 😊 How does door to door work? I thought home insemination or IUI. I currently just don't know where to begin to start my journey. I don't know anyone who has gone down this route to ask advice at starting. Some sites I've read says I need a clinic to have sperm sent to etc.. I'd love to start in the new year.

I didn’t know anyone, either. Lots of great documentaries on YouTube and might be worth emailing clinics/banks there are also larger and more specific networks for SMBC than on Peanut. Not sure on door-to-door but saw it in a documentary in which a lesbian couple had frozen material delivered. Welcome to add me. 🌈

I met my donor on a fb group which I can send you details of It took me over 6 months to decide before even starting . I had 2 kids from a past relationship so wouldn't have had help from a clinic It took 3 months to conceive but then I miscarried, 1st month trying after the mc I conceived my daughter I waited until she was 8 before deciding to try again and it took 4 months to conceive which resulted in a miscarriage waited 5 months before trying again as my cycle was all over and it took 3 months to conceive again and I had my youngest. All done by insemination at home, didn't cost a penny and I'm in contact with donor so if we ever need medical info etc I can message him. He's became a good friend who I talk to every few weeks
