A day, but we did do it months ago so would likely be different now.
We went cold turkey and he’s not actually asked for it at all! I was SO anxious about taking it away and sleepless nights, we had a couple a days of 1 wake up a night but he managed to go back very quickly after a little drink and reassurance and he’s never asked for it since we took it , that was 3 weeks ago. So may come around to bite me but yeah he naturally didn’t want it anymore. They are all so different aren’t they
@Megan that’s really good! He’s actually only asked for it a couple of times since, we’ve just struggled getting him to sleep but when he’s crying he’s not asking for it he’s just not wanting to go to bed.. not sure if it’s related to not having his “comfort” he has a comforter but that isn’t filling that void for him yet! Hopefully it gets better x
It’s really hard but you’re doing so well, try and stick with it! My little boy is not into stuffed animals, teddies or blankets snuggies or anything , we tried them but he literally couldn’t care less. I’ve let him take his hot wheels to whenever when he feels sad or upset so I might try that if we have a night and we can’t comfort him x
@Megan thank you so much!! We’re now going into day 5 no dummy, and he’s doing amazingly, bedtime has been easier he is also taking a hot wheels car to bed but it’s working for him! Hes hardly asked for it either so I’m really proud of him xx
We're gearing up to remove the dummies at Christmas, we talk to her every day or so about how Santa's elves are going to take all of her dummies away and swap them for presents😆🤷♀️ Not sure how well it will work but she only currently has them for sleep anyway so fingers crossed🤞
@Leah we had thought about doing that too, but decided we’d prefer not to have sleepless nights around Christmas 😬😂 but I hope it works for you!! X
Ours was about a week. He’d ask for it once every now and then but 4 weeks later he doesn’t mention it at all.
We went cold turkey 2 months ago and the whining lasted 2 days but every time we reminded her she was a big girl now ended the convo there and changed subject or distracted
I wouldn’t say I went cold turkey with it because my son still has one for bed time but I would say it took about a month for him to go completely without it during the day, I think it was easier because he goes to nursery everyday now so he’s a bit distracted, he started taking a toy with him so he could go for that rather than his dummy and I think that’s what helped him not ask for his dummy having something else there x
