What should I do?

Looking for some advice/experiences. I’ve previously been to the GP who has tested my hormone levels, my cortisol levels were fine amongst others, but I have very high androgen levels (basically testosterone!) and they said that this is a key thing they look for when diagnosing PCOS. I of course have all of the symptoms, excessive hair, irregular periods, acne etc. I then went for an ultrasound which confirmed I do have some follicles/cysts on my ovaries. Now the aim here isn’t necessarily to manage these symptoms, sure they probably need to be managed but my main goal is to conceive. I did manage to conceive my little boy, who is now 3, previously. I had been trying to conceive for 4 years with no luck, but I worked really hard over 2 years and managed to lose just over 3 stone. After losing the weight and 6 years since starting TTC, I conceived within a few months of my period coming back which I account to my periods becoming regular after losing the weight. Now trying for baby number 2, I have had 1 ‘period’ within the last 3 years since having my boy, so they are by no means regular thus, I am not ovulating, The GP has recommended I start taking Progesterone, which will aim to mimic a period but won’t necessarily mean I ovulate. Moreso, it aids with the shedding of the wall inside which will overall benefit the health of my ovaries. She did mention the pill, but I felt since I am TTC, this wasn’t the best bet. She also then said we could try Metformin, but she is more inclined to go with Progesterone first. I have seen success stories RE Metformin in aiding ovulation, which of course is key here. I am worried if I am put on Progesterone first, it’s going to solve the issued of my missing periods but will not allow me to ovulate and conceive, in comparison to Metformin. Any ideas with what you think I should do? Any success stories or own experiences? Much appreciated 😊

Have you tried myo inositol, I had very similar symptoms and very irregular periods. I now get monthly period and I’m able to track ovulation. I was on a waiting list for ivf a few years ago and after taking this for a couple of months I managed to conceive. I highly recommend.

Hey!!! It sounds like you’re in such a similar position to me, sending love ❤️ I have a 2.5 year old conceived as a total surprise after a random 6 week cycle (we were on holiday, not sure if that makes a difference!). I have had a few cycles here and there since he was born but haven’t had a period for 9 months. I spoke to my doctor too and they have referred me to the fertility clinic, appointment in jan,l. In the meantime I am eating whole foods (90g protein per day), regular exercise, taking a multivitamin, ashwagandha and myoinositol. I also quit my stressful job haha. Before you keep trying you need to get your body in the right place to be able to conceive and hold on to a pregnancy. Not to scare you but PCOS does mean higher risk of miscarriage so it’s worthwhile investing in your overall ovulatory health to give yourself the best shot
