@Loren We got a Snuza too after hearing way too many stories about Owlet increasing anxiety and stress in parents due to false readings, falling off and the like x
Can’t advise on the owlet but we got the Cubo AI with sleep pad which I absolutely love! It really helped me feel at ease from day 1 and still using it in her cot at 2Y +. I’ve heard great reviews about the owlet but some babies (mine) hates/ hated anything on her feet and I don’t feel it would be as long lasting. Also heard of it falling off and causing panic x
The former paediatrician that happens to be on our NCT class (go figure) rants how much he hates them and told us all not to bother because of false readings and amount of appointments made unnecessarily because of it.
I recommend Nanit. You can get camera and swaddle i never used the swaddle as I had enough anxiety to deal with
The advice I got with these was unless your expecting a prem or unwell baby these devices can promote alot of fear amongst new parents with the constant readings to every little twitch and can make you even more paranoid. Without one, you will know so much about your bub and will be constantly checking as it is. Totally your decision with what you choose here. I was grateful for the advice when I got it and opted against getting it with my first. A simple baby monitor and camera was absolutely fine 💜
I’ve got one and i find it’s really helpful. Haven’t had any issues with it. Suffered a lot from anxiety with my first and as a result, didn’t sleep. The owlet was a god-send for me and gave me the reassurance to sleep. We also have the camera so both work nicely together. I’d recommend them but go with what you’re most comfortable with as there will be pros and cons with anything you buy. I’d look at research to back up my decision and owlet is largely based on reducing anxiety levels which related to me. There are cons listed, false readings being the main one but I’ve not experienced that. We got ours from John Lewis and they were a great help (we buy most things there due to good customer service). They didn’t say there were any issues when we bought ours but doesn’t mean that there are no issues. I’ve got a few friends who, like me, are about to use it again for baby #2.
I don't have any personal experience but we were actually put off by a sales lady in John Lewis. She said too many people found it fell off and then caused them so much unnecessary stress. But I don't know how accurate that is! We were given a snuza by a friend so we thought we'd give that a go instead and bought a standard baby monitor.
