Too early to be teething!!?

My little one is 12 weeks on Monday. The last couple days she’s been chewing/sucking her hands like no tomorrow. She tries to ‘bite’ our hands or noses if by our faces (she’s not hungry as would have just eaten) She’s more irritable and is fighting naps, spits dummy out & goes to chew hands, cries and go back to dummy. Is anyone else in the same boat? Is it phase as I didn’t think teething started till 4months+ Thank you 🩷

I'm not too sure if they can start teething that early ( i could be wrong). My girl found her hands at 10 weeks and would not keep them out her mouth. I think they are just learning their body. Maybe ask your health visitor xxx

@Chloe that’s what I thought, way too early! It’s probably just that she’s found her hands and just being extra fussy. I’ll see if I can find a number for HV as they don’t visit or see us. Not since her very first appt x

I have a 3 month old an read that a lot of people think babies are teething at this age but actually it’s just natural for them to find their hands and also the time when they start to produce more saliva.

@Lisa oh amazing! That is what I have started reading today! So that is reassuring! Thank you!x

At 3 months baby’s suck thier hands as they now know that they exist. It’s an important part of development to be able to bring their hands to their mouth for the future to be able to feed themselves x

My son had his first tooth by that age - it's certainly possible! He got his final tooth through just a few months ago. It's just another thing that varies from child to child 😊

Babies can be born with teeth so it’s never too early for teething! It can also last months before a tooth appears 🙃 There is no harm in offering her some teething toys at this age, as she’ll probably enjoy chewing on them whether she’s teething or not!
