Should I Fire Him??

So I went to the ER before my first appointment at 6w+5 where they did an ultrasound. But the ER said they don’t print pictures I’d have to ask my Dr and they’d do one no problem. The day of my appointment(for reference I am an African American woman and my doctor is Caucasian and male) and I ask if he could do an ultrasound for me to have pictures. My doctor basically straight up refused and said I have to wait til 20 weeks since I’ve had my first ultrasound already. I kept telling him that I wanted pictures of my baby now, and kept telling me the baby would be too small to really see anything… like I wasn’t already told that at the hospital. The ER even left a note saying that I wanted pictures, and my doctor refused to print the pictures that were in the system and refused to do another ultrasound. I’ve always said I wanted a woman of color to be my doctor to lower the risk of me being ignored. I advocate for myself really well and I felt like he was talking to me like a child… should I just get a new doctor?? Or make a complaint???

I'm really sorry this happened to you. I want you to know that I experienced the same thing. I was only allowed a certain amount of printed ultrasounds during certain stages of my pregnancy. I only got prints outs on two separate occasions during my pregnancy. Im not sure why to be totally honest. But I just share this so you feel less alone in the feeling, because that happened to me too.

I had the same experience but I wasn’t mad about it. When I wanted to get pictures, I went to an ultrasound specialist and paid for my pictures.
