UK mums who drive - How far would you travel for a kids party?

Just curious really, a school mum is having a trampoline party at a venue that is 40m drive away

Probably no more than half an hour

I would only drive locally, up to 15 mins

Half an hour at a push

Totally dependent on how close the friend is and how good the venue is. It was my sons birthday yesterday and I drove us 1 hour away to a children’s play centre as I’d heard it was really good there.

Well where I live "locally" means up to 30 minutes as that's how far apart our towns are, with nothing in-between... 40 minutes is perfectly acceptable for us to drive.

I’ve done up to an hour for kids parties, usually I take a couple of kids in my car and then the next party one of the other parents takes mine. If I have had trouble getting my child there because of work etc I usually put in the school what’s app group does anyone mind giving a lift and I’ll return the favour next time x

I travelled 40mins for the childminders little boys 4th birthday party. I wouldn’t normally do 40 mins, but I felt I had to as it was the childminders son 😂 normally 20-30mins for me!

My son goes to an sen school so all his parties are 45 minutes away which is where the nearest trampoline is. I have a car so as long as I’m familiar with the area then I will try and take them. That said I refused one that was started at 6 on a Friday in a hall 45 minutes away in an area I didn’t know and knowing I would be driving home in the pitch black.

Depends if your kid is going to miss out or not. Are there friends going, and will they be talking about it in school next week, excluding your child. That's how I'd look at it

I’d drive up to an hour. 40 mins in London is average drive time 🤣

Depends if it's a school friend of your child I'd expect it to be local so upto 30mins drive. If it's family or friends who don't live near us I'd be happy to drive

Depends really. On the child and the circumstances. Just a child from nursery with the usual mass invite to all kids in class? Probably not anymore than 20-30mins

Depends who it is for. My best friend lives depending on traffic 45 to an hour away. I will travel for her and my brothers 3 hours away without traffic so I'd go that far for him. If it wasn't a really good friend of family then max 30 minutes

I don't mind if my boy wants to go an hour

Depends on whose birthday it is. It’s really good friends little one’s first birthday and they live an hour away in a different county - I’m still going with my little one.
