Swapping formula for cows milk

We had our health visitor come round last week and she said that once my little girl is one (next month) that’s when it’s time to start getting her into cows milk. I’ve given her small bits of it since so she can get used to it but how did you find it with your little one going onto cows milk? Any recommendations for any good bottles/ cups would be much appreciated we use a small tommee tippee one for her water but she usually spits it out. Any advice or tips would be great thank you!

I live in the US so the recommendations may be different but they say not to give them any cows milk to drink until they are 1. Can been cooked into things but not drinking it. We are doing the transition next month as well so I think I will be using a bottle right in the start as she transitions and then getting a sippy cup that’s easy to clean well after a week or so

So I mixed a bit with their formula and slowly increased it. However, at 13 months I removed all bottles and milk at the bed time (as that was the only bottle he was having) because they don’t need it if they’re getting it in their diet. I give him milk in a sippy cup after his tea but most of the time he doesn’t drink it all x

@Sophie I’ll try mixing it into her formula thank you x

We started with it at 9 months, per Canadian guide lines, and just introduced little top up bottles of cows milk after solids at first, then as time went on had them be more regular, and slowly increased the amount, and started switching over bottles too. So now he has a formula bottle first thing in the morning (the bottle he's most likely to actually finish so putting the more nutrient heavy one there) and his midday milk bottle before nap, and his evening bottle are now cows milk. He's about a week and a half off turning 1, and we're just working through the formula we have, since we had a little bit of a stock pile (like 3 tins) because we had taken advantage of a sale. So once that formula is done he'll be officially weaned

@Sophie that's exactly what I did, along mix of toddler formula and whole milk and sometimes oat milk. I transitioned him out of bottles at one to the silicone top sippy cup.

Mix at intervals start with it being 1/4 of the bottle and then gradually up the amount

I started my little boy on Cows milk at 11 months. We used the Tommee Tippee bottles with straws in x

I was told to replace one bottle with cows milk per day for the first week, then two bottles the next week per day and so on Also, to give water with every meal as it can cause constipation

Mine didn’t even notice

@Bee we have been giving her water for a while now, sometimes she drinks it and other times she spits it back out. Just hoping she won’t be the same with the cows milk

@Katie my little one is ok with the cow’s milk, it just caused her reflux to return but taste wise she was fine with it. Health Visitor also said if baby doesn’t like the taste very much, they’re more likely to eat food (we shall see!). We just had the 1 year old jabs so she’s gone off food right now, so I’ve upped the bottles and will hopefully reduce them back next week. Hope it goes well for you!

We mixed in formula and slowly brought the amount of formula down and now she's just on cows milk but has to be warm she won't drink cold milk
