Insurance issues

Just moved to the area and I haven’t been able to get insurance and it’s been a huge stressor. Any moms who had issues with it as well? Also any moms who gave birth without insurance? How was the bill?

I'm not sure personally about cost without insurance but most hospitals are kind and have a payment program or forgiveness program. I had gotten a bill from my hospital (UPMC) and I called and said I couldn't pay it all upfront. They sent me a form to fill out and I ended up not owing anything

@Jessy wow thank you! I’ll definitely be doing that

We had issues in the beginning of my pregnancy getting our insurance. We missed the date for filling a renewal cuz our mail went to our previous house and nothing else was telling us it’s time to renew. It was a huge stressor as well. Weeks and weeks go by after I’m calling and going to the county office trying to get it back. We finally did. But it took about a month or 2. And we have the state insurance. And while we weren’t on the insurance my kids and me had to get sick at this time and I needed to take them to doctors to get antibiotics and me as well since I had gotten pneumonia at this time. Luckily cvs has this coupon thing and they help families out so paying out of pocket for the meds was under 40 dollars. Which was amazing. Kids doc bills were 50 and mine was 100. Without insurance shit gets expensive. Be persistent and continue annoying the shit out of them everyday. That’s what we did. Idk what insurance you have, or why there not letting you get it

Hospital bills for births are usually 30k plus. Hopefully you get insurance prior or have some help with it. Praying for your insurance 🙏🙏

Update! Just finally got on insurance. Don’t know how it happened so fast after trying for so long but thank you all for your good thoughts, advice, and prayers!! This app has been a godsent

So glad it worked out! One less stressor!! You got this!

Just fyi in the future- if you are uninsured as a pregnant woman in the state of PA, you qualify for medical assistance (Medicaid)
