Alternatives to calpol/ vapour refills.

Fed up spending so much money on calpol and the vapour refills in cold and flu season! Any alternatives that are cheaper? I always want to reuse the refill tablets by soaking them in olbas oil or something. Would this be dangerous/fire risk!? 😂🤷‍♀️

Shops own brand infant/junior paracetamol is the same as calpol and they also do their own ibprofen rather than neurophen. It’s half the price of the big name brands. I’m not sure on the vapour refills but I hope this helps x

Snuffle babe oil drops (or olbas would probably work) on a damp towel over radiator gives same effect

I reuse the tablets pop a few drops of olbas oil on and done, been doing it for a while and haven’t had any issues x

Ive just googled n i wouldnt put olbas oil over anything radiator nor in the plug ins, didnt realise it was highly flammable! Defo go for snuffle babe if so as i assume theirs isnt due to the instructions advising to use as i suggested but honestly on a wet cloth works just as well if the heatings on!

Lavender and chamomile essence oil drops in some water in an oil diffuser. Thats what we use. Way cheaper and exactly the same as a Calpol plug in.

Olbas oil decongestant for children (suitable from 3 months on a tissue under babies' nose) and own brand children's ibuprofen and paracetamol + cough Syrups (just read the labels, I know Tesco is 3 months aswell but unsure elsewhere)

Superdrug do a vapour rub similar to Vicks which is suitable from 3 months I think x

I put a bowl of boiled water in his room with a couple of drops of olbas oil in. And buy the supermarket version of calpol/nurofen. I buy the branded versions when on offer to get the syringes
