I went to inform my midwife yesterday and they said it was self referral now and then the midwife will contact you around 8 weeks 😊

Hi! I did the same, contacted my local midwives as I did for my last pregnancy and they said that now it's all done online. I had to self refer and then they sent me an appointment to see the midwife when I'm 8 weeks xx

Yes most are self referral now. It depends which hospital or area you choose to register with as to how long it takes. One of my hospitals booked my appointment within a couple of weeks, another one hasn’t even got in touch yet and it’s been 3 weeks since I referred!

Hi my gp said the same thing to me and I won't get a midwife appointment until I'm 10-11 weeks that is what they said when i rang the community midwifes this morning xx

I forget, is there an appointment before the first scan or is the first scan the first one?x

My area is the same, have to self refer direct to the hospital. @Sophia yes it’s an appointment to go over medical info/family history/baby’s dad info etc. usually before first scan.

I had to do the same, I contacted my GP but they sent me a link to self-refer, I was supposed to hear from the midwife in 10-14 days after it but they still haven’t contacted & its 3 weeks since I referred! Luckily my EPU have been amazing for my anxiety & have seen me & I have a support call from them booked in to so that’s nice but I haven’t heard anything about my first booking app yet! Xx

GPs don’t do referral anymore. Go online, and google self referral and your local area (I did self referral East Sussex). Filled out the online form, and that was it. Days later I’ve received the 12 weeks scan invitation letter and a call from the midwives to book my first appointment at 8 weeks.

I had to self refer too on my pregnancy notes xx

Self referral here too. Not what I expected at all. Heard nothing yet from the midwife, even with me being over 40 and last and only pregnancy was MMC at 8 weeks in 2019 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’d of thought they’d have been more involved.
