Do you get taxed on child benefits?

We receive a payment of something like £100 a month. Someone at work told my partner you get taxed on it and it’s down us to pay the tax. Is this correct? TIA

I think it’s only if you or your partner earns over £50k a year individually x

@Amie thank you. So say we do. I’d assume it would come out of our pay packet but his pal at work said it doesn’t.

I think you have to fill out a self assessment form and include it in this x

Found these online, have a look:)x

@Amie glorious! Super star. Thank you xx

Child support, as in getting money from the child father if you were separated, etc, would be like a tax, as for some people, they get it taken straight from their payslip. If you're talking about child benefit, then only if you earn above a certain amount, it's not household income either. It's only if 1 person earns over that amount.

@Jayde sorry yes I mean benefits

In 2024 the tax charge changed to be payable on salaries over £60k from £50k. You have to do your own self assessment x
