Period with a birth control implant
Hi, I have got an implant on the 2nd November 2024, all was good. Then I got my period on 23rd November and it lasted for 12 days (till 4th December) it seemed like it finished, usually my period lasted 5 days, then on Sunday 8th December, I started bleeding again. So I’m now on day 6 of bleeding. Is this normal or could it be something else. It’s not a lot I go through one pad a day but it’s just irritating 😬
P.s I’ve given birth 3 months ago maybe it’s still because of the birth?
Any advice and information would be appreciated!

I bled for 12 weeks solid on the implant then also bled for a week at a time every fortnight. I think they say give it atleast 12 weeks to settle, I eventually had mine out after a year.
Thank you for the replies. I will get it checked once I’m back in the uk. Maybe it will settle soon
when i had the implant i had extremely long and heavy, frequent periods for 6 months. i think it’s a normal side effect
This sounds pretty normal for the implant, when I was on the implant I would have 40-60 day periods with a 1 or 2 week break n then go bk on my period. It absolutely sucks, I got sick of it and got it taken out and went on iud instead couldn't stand it, wasn't even spotting or light period was heavy and painful to

Hey, have you had an implant before? It works differently for different people. I was the same. Had my implant fitted and then a few months later I started bleeding and ever since then I would bleed every 10-15 days for a few days. I ended up taking the implant out as it did not suit me. I had one fitted a few years later and the bleeding was fine but my skin really suffered. I had plenty of spots on my face and back and took it out again. Once I have my little one I'll give it a go again. My friend on the other hand, once she had her implant fitted, she hasn't had bleeding for 2 years so really it depends on the person....
