Potty training

For those who have already potty trained, how did you know they were ready?? We are thinking of potty training my 20 mo. old since I feel like she’s been showing some signs for a while.. The biggest sign is that when she sees me go to the bathroom, she will look down at her diaper and make herself pee. Also when she’s in the bath she will stand up to pee, so this tells me she knows when she has to go.. I am due with my second baby at the end of January so I would like to have her fully potty trained before baby comes, but not sure if that is enough time? I am home all day with her and we don’t have any plans for holidays this year so I feel like now would be an ideal time, but not sure if it’s too soon, or if it won’t be enough time. The last thing I want is for her to be in the middle of potty training when I go into labor bc then that will just throw things off for her. So it’s either do it now, or do it later around her second birthday? What do you guys think?? And if you already potty trained, how long did it take?

Go for it. We did the train in three days program from little big feelings and modified to our needs and situation (we skipped naked and went straight to underwear) lean into the cues she's giving you and go for it. You have a great window now that will make things easier. But I would prepare yourself for potty regression potential when baby is born. It's something they can control and quickly gets all your focus on them. We started with a little potty and quickly moved to the toilet seats that have built in kid seats in the lid and just provided a stool for reach. Good luck but I think her willingness and awareness is on your side

It sounds like she is able to control her peeing which might be a sign she’s ready! I knew my son was ready bc he would go #2 in his diaper and hated the feeling of being dirty and wanted us to change him right away. We followed the “Potty Training in 3 Days” book by Brandi Brucks ($6 on Amazon) and my son was potty trained in less than a week. Within a week and a half he was telling me when he needed to use the potty and he has had very few accidents. Best of luck!
