Strep B

Hi, has anyone else tested positive for strep B in pregnancy? I just tested positive via a urine test at 20 weeks have to take antibiotics for a week. I’m a bit worried about the baby as I’m at risk of preterm labour already after my first birth (had an emergency c-section where they cut my cervix by accident) Thanks

Yes I've had this around 6 weeks a go and took the antibiotics course and was fine. I'm also high risk but wouldn't worry too much about it r.e the strep B if midwife isn't concerned :)

I had this around 14 weeks and had antibiotics - it did clear up xx

My midwife said IV antibiotics will be given before labour not before, did you ask for your earlier? I’d rather get it cleared now!

Did you find the antibiotics to cause any side effects? I didn’t have the usual symptoms of a uti but since starting the antibiotics I’m starting to feel more pelvic pain lower down.

I tested positive when having my son 2 years ago. I was induced but as soon as my waters broke I got iv antibiotics and they repeated it 3 times every 4 hours and then put me on another IV during active labour - so 4 in total. Me & baby had to be monitored for minimum 12 hours after birth but my son was in neonatal anyway for another reason so was well checked on x
