Probably a bit of a silly question but

What is an antenatal phonecall appointment for? How can they check my blood pressure, baby's heartbeat, measure the baby etc. seems abit pointless to me 😩

Who is the call from?

I assume my consultant, I had an email from my hospital saying I have a phone call appointment on Wednesday but I don't know what it's about or who it's with x

Ahh okay. If you’re consultant led, could it be to discuss the results of any recent tests? Or perhaps simply to check in and keep an eye on your symptoms?

Possibly. I think it might be to do with gestational diabetes as I'm under their care. It just doesn't say that in the email I got, I'll go digging abit deeper coz there's literally no information about this phonecall lol

Everytime I’ve had one of these come through, it’s been with the consultant and they literally just discuss your pregnancy any bloods you may have had done etc, birth options… I’ve only had one face to face and it was so much better! Hate it over the phone.

@Maariyah it's weird, I don't think I had one with my daughter's pregnancy & I had GD with her & high blood pressure / white coat syndrome but never had any phone calls with anyone AND it was covid too. Much prefer face to face appointments

Have you had any operations on your back? I had a call, which I had no clue what it was for either, and then it turned out it was because I’d had a previous operation on my spine and they had to go over things in case I requested an epidural. Might be something along those lines 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

@Nikki-Lee I had an emergency C section with my first, it might be to do with the elective section they've said I'm to have as my pregnancy is now high risk due of complications at birth and during my first pregnancy so maybe just as a precaution but I've not had a phonecall before about anything so who knows x
