Christmas presents

This will probably be very variable due to incomes / circumstances and sorry for being "nosey" I'm not meaning to I need some reassurance or some sense talking into me 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 I'm not sure which one 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 How much do you all spend on your little ones at Christmas? I ended up panicking that I didn't get my little one enough but now i feel like I've maybe gone overboard! She's only 2.5 yrs. Debating if to put some away for her birthday. Thanks in advance!

About £10 on 3 presents (2 have more than one item in). She got an extra present cos she gave her dummies to Santa (the items in that were less than £5) She is getting so much from extended family and she doesn't need anymore. Id rather take her on a day out instead. I'm probably in the minority with what I bought/spent cos it's not that I couldn't afford to spend more it's just that I don't think it's needed.

@Natalie it's very sensible! Is she your only child? I think more children and diff ages all come into play on this x

Yes she is. I personally think that people go so overboard so children end up with more than they need/would play with. Studies showed that having more than 16 items available to play with at once is overwhelming and means there is less independent play.

2 items for £40. One was £10, the other £30. Also getting so much from extended family, that I think it's all excessive.

Mine usually have 10 presents from us, value depends. Mine are a bit older now but they have a few hundred pounds.. especially if getting a big present (iPad one year) but also stuff they need, clothes, socks, PJs… which some might not consider as presents… See how you feel when Santa comes, if it looks too much put some away then x

@Emma thank you. I know it doesn't matter really it's personal choice and circumstances. If I had two id be less inclined to feel like I need to top her bits up. I don't want to set myself up to disappoint in the future if I go big and hard now and then reduce it. I think I'm Over thinking it, next year will be the one i think she'll Remember this year she's got a lot more excitement about Christmas now she's understands it. But yeah thank you were roughly the same amount of gifts. Most of it is creativity not toys as such. She's got one main gift a dolls house. The rest is little bits. I agree things they need is still a present. I think as they got older it gets / looks less and harder to stick to a budget as things increase in price. Sorry if this bores you. I'm trying to rationalise my actions 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 xx

I honestly couldn't tell you how much we've spent because just been kicking little bits up here and there. Probably got around 15/20 presents from wash mit to Duplo train set so all varied values. Literally do whatever you want! Xx

@Lucy this is the right way to do it spread the cost then :) I start buying in July onwards 🤣🤣

It gets more expensive as they get older when they ask for stuff and want everything they see so take it while you can!

Too much but it’s good quality stuff that can be used for years and passed on 😊
