Anyone know what this mark is??

This has just popped up like very quickly, my son also has a red cheek on the other side but I was thinking that could be teething. This though I'm not sure, seems slightly raised. He's fine in himself, hence the video as he won't sit still he just wants to race about 🤣

Is it darker around the edges? Do you have pets? It could be ringworm. I worked in preschool and got it on my face. Keep an eye out that more spots don’t show up

@Kourtney we do have pets but they're indoor cats. I agree it looks like ringworm like five mins after this it looked EXACTLY like ringworm but it was so weird it came up literally over 10 minutes so I don't think fungal infections can grow that quick? I have him some chlorphenamine and it went away and I did a videocall with a doctor who said just keep up with the chlorphenamine for a couple of days and keep an eye on it so it seems it was an allergic reaction? Very odd though as he hadn't come into contact with anything new. I haven't given another dose of the antihistamine yet and it's been like 14 hours and it hasn't come back so I think it's one of those head scratchers where we may not find out the cause

Is it a hive?

@Rebecca maybe, neither of us have ever had them before so I'm not too familiar but could just one single hive come up like this? It did go away when I gave him some antihistamine

Looks like a single hive - spontaneous urticaria. My son gets them often and they go away

@Emily oh really! That really seems the most likely possibility with how fast it went away with antihistamines! Do you know the cause of them?

There is no cause annoyingly! They are completely random. Our baby has allergies but the single hives come up without having contact with any of his allergens

@Chloe yeah I've had them before where it's been one single one. It it's gone away with anti histamine I'd say likely it's a hive. Especially with the red cheek too, sounds like an allergic reaction.

@Emily how bizarre! My son doesn't have allergies that we've come across yet, just a sensitivity to vinegary acidic things but he's never had a hive until yesterday! It hasn't come back so just gonna keep an eye on it but I'm glad it isn't just us!

@Rebecca it definitely sounds like it, he didn't seem to come into contact with anything he doesn't normally so it's a bit odd but glad it went away with the antihistamine
