Resolved our bottle refusal

In case it helps anyone else… our, mainly breastfed, boy suddenly refused bottles at around 12 weeks (now 15). Partly our fault as we weren’t giving him them often enough, nor did I realise that at around 2 months their reflex changes from sucking to chewing. We tried him on his mam ones that he used to take no problem and he would just scream and refuse to even put the teat in his mouth. I’d read good reviews about the Lanisoh bottles being more similar to the boob so got some of them and luckily he took to them straight away. Next issue was that he couldn’t suck. He would just play with the teat with his tongue, try to chew it or gag on it. I’ve been seriously stressing as I need to work away for a full day next week and need him to take a bottle. Today my mums friend who is a nurse and whose sister used to work in hospitals with kids suggested either gently stroking his throat or gently running a finger in circles on his cheek (just above the jaw) after the teat was in his mouth. I tried on the cheek and he suddenly started sucking no problem and finished the bottle in minutes. Problem finally solved! Just thought I’d post incase anyone else is having similar issues!

We were in the same boat. She was used to having one bottle a day and then point blank refused. Gagging and letting the milk run out. After ultimate panic we've found that it was the temperature of the milk. She now point blank refuses unless the milk is 37degrees. So we've gone from being able to warm it up in a bowl to having to use a bottle warmer. However she now drinks it no problem! We did try different bottles and teats before this but the temperature seemed to be the issue! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
