Stopping sterelising bottles a little earlier šŸ¤”

Sooo, I am low on Sterelising tabletsā€¦as we donā€™t need to sterilise from 12 months, is it a biggie if I stop in the next couple of days when they run out. little one will be turning 1 in 20 days..should i buy more and continue? Thanks šŸ˜Š

Tablets are not a must, you can sterilise by boiling or steaming. We used the tablets for his prep machine. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/baby/breastfeeding-and-bottle-feeding/bottle-feeding/sterilising-baby-bottles

Its not to do with age its to do with when you stop using formula, which they suggest at 12 months which is why they say that age- if youā€™re using cows milk or breastmilk you dont need to, but with formula yes continue (as above you dont need tablets) x

Are you still formula feeding? If yes then you still need to sterilise. If your already on cows milk only then no

I'm so confused because my health visitor told me to continue sterilising even when using cows milk because of it getting stuck in the teat, she said to stop once moved onto a cup??

@Salma to be fair if I need to do it all Iā€™ll just get more tablets as itā€™s easier to just Chuck them in after washing but I read we didnā€™t need to as it was because they are more vulnerable to germs beforehand which made sense and by 1 their putting all sorts in their mouth etc anyway šŸ¤£

@Kay but then if this is the case then it would make sense also that youā€™d still need to with normal milk too, if itā€™s not about vulnerability to germs in general but more because of specifically what they are drinking šŸ¤” confusingggg

We actually use the MAM self Sterelising bottles, I think Iā€™ll just do that (didnā€™t bother before as we were using so many and it was long doing a few at a time etc so leaving them in the sterilised water with tablets was easier) but heā€™s dropped a lot of milk now so doing them in the microwave wonā€™t be as time consuming. Thanks ladies!

Its different with cows milk- a normal wash like the rest of the dishes is fine as long as you use a bottle brush, for formula you need to sterilise as it has particular bacteria over and above normal germs

@CeeCee okay thanks hun! Iā€™ll just use the bottles in the microwave for last part of the month šŸ˜Š have a lovely new year everyone! ā™„ļøā™„ļø

I stopped sterling my little ones bottles a few weeks ago and still using formula. Hot soapy water and using the hot shot method when making his bottles. Heā€™s been absolutely fine, to me thereā€™s more bacteria on a shopping trolley then in milk now that heā€™s nearly one x
