Potty training

My little boy is 3 in February and is not potty trained at all. I'm so embarrassed, I feel like I've let him down by leaving him so long and he'll never show any signs of being ready cos it's easier to stay in nappies. I'd just like some advice I suppose, especially from people with carpets 😂 how did you go about potty training, did you use potties or just a seat on the main toilet? How long did it take? What do you do about going out and about?

My little boy never showed signs but apparently that’s an out of date theory. I stayed in the house for a full week, introduced the potty in the room, 3 days no bottoms on at all, 3 days just bottoms and no pants and the 7th day underpants. Cracked it in a week. Loads of accidents at first but he didn’t like the wet feeling down his legs and everytime he did it, we went to the potty to see if there was anymore wee left. I could count on one hand how many accidents he’s had since then and he’s been trained 4 months. He does stand up wees on the loo now with a step after copying his Dad haha xx

My little boy isn’t potty trained either and when I’ve spoken to nursery about it they’ve said it ok, everyone goes at different paces, don’t be embarrassed 🤗 I don’t have any advice unfortunately 🤣 just wanted to let you know it’s ok!

My son didn’t show signs either. He was bottomless for 2 days, commando for 2 days and then with pants from then on. He was fine at home from about day three but took an extra week at nursery. My house is fully carpeted but I just had a lot of anti bacterial/kitchen towel on hand to mark areas until they dried and puppy pads under his dinner chair. 🤣

I’m so glad I waited till this age! I’ve done it this week and in 3 days he was fully potty trained, was so easy 😂 because he’s able to understand what I’m saying I just explained every stage to him and he picked it up so quick x

Thanks everyone, I had another baby in October so felt like I'd fallen behind with him a bit. I'm going to try him this weekend so hopefully we'll get somewhere this time!

My son didn’t potty train until just before his fourth birthday. My feb baby is just progressing now (mostly goes on the toilet). You’re not failing, they go at their own pace x

My March 2022 boy isn’t potty trained yet. I am planning to start this month but not stressing about it

My son isn’t potty trained yet he will be 3 feb. I have brought a seat with steps for the toilet, if I ask him if he needs a wee he will say yes and will go if I put him on the toilet but he won’t tell me if he needs to go.

No advice but I’m in the same situation - also had another baby in October! We had 2 failed attempts at potty training when I was pregnant but I gave up as I figured he was likely to regress when the baby came anyway. It’s so frustrating because he will actually ask for the potty at his grandparents’ house but he won’t at home!
