Doula
Hi everyone! Pregnant with my first and looking into a Doula. Has anyone used one before and if so how much did it cost?
My fear is being in the delivery room and communication breaking down so having an extra person in my corner sounds brilliant but worried about cost

I used a doula! Mine was very very cheap because it was a friend of mine which was perfect! I know they can be pretty pricey sometimes but so worth it if you can afford it I’ve heard people ask their parents to get them a doula as their “gift” if the parents are giving a gift
have a doula currently and because of my husbands income we qualified for a fund so we only had to pay 200 vs 1000 or more. not all programs have that so look in your area to see if any places offer it

Hi, I used a doula but I ended up using her leading up to the birth and not having her at the actual birth. I wanted to have her there but my husband felt uncomfortable and thought he might get pushed aside so I respected his wishes and we really worked with the doula on how he could support as my main birth partner. She is also a massage therapist so I had massage from her throughout my pregnancy, my hubby and I then did NCT style sessions with her, 2 hour sessions cost £110 and we had two of them. If I’d had her at the birth, she would have been on 24hr call for the 2 weeks before and after my due date and at the birth and that would have been £550/600. I also had a mother’s blessing with her which was £150. Each doula will have their own things they do and have packages they can offer as well. Good luck x
