Potty training

So my daughter has started walking a bit and when she finally gets it I want to start potty training. Do yall think it would be too soon and she wouldn’t understand what I’m trying to teach her? Like she is only 8 months. I’m a first time mom so I’m not sure when you’re supposed to start.

"Oh Crap! Potty Training" recommends between 20 and 30 months. That is consistent with the research cited in "Expecting Better". However, the Vietnamese culture starts training in infancy so it's definitely possible. I would look up their method and decide if you are up for it.

i started at 6 months with both of mine. for the younger one i just put him on the pot when i suspect he’s about to poop or when he’s shady started pooping and he finishes pooping on the pot. i haven’t mastered the peeing part yet cuz everybody suggests letting the toddler walk around in dresses with no undies/diapers for like a week but we have carpet so…. that’s not going to work.

I also plan to start “potty training” once baby can walk. I put it in quotes because will mostly be me encouraging baby to walk to the potty and then I will put baby on the potty when he wakes up and after meal times until he is closer to 20 months.
