I've got a mk4 (2017-2020, they stopped making them after that so you'd be looking 2nd hand) Renault Grand Scenic. It's classed as a small mpv, in that it has 7 seats (2 in the boot that fold down completely flat) but it's not as big as say a Ford Galaxy. However, I feel that the mk4 model also has the 'look' of an suv. But with a much bigger boot, provided you're not using the boot seats. I will say, the electrics aren't always great on French manufacturered cars so I've had a couple electrical issues with Renaults (clios and scenic) in the past, from the fans not working to the windows getting stuck up/down, but overall it's a great car. My Dad even went and bought one because he liked mine so much, replaced his Audi A6 with it 😂 I also had to have the car seat behind the passenger side as its a spin seat that takes up a fair bit of depth so behind me meant my seat is too far forward, so it is smaller inside than normal mpvs.

We have a kodiaq and never had any issues. We found the qashqai, kuga and Tiguan too small for my son’s car seat to fit. And Audis too expensive.
We went for the Peugeot 5008 as it has 3 proper seats at the back + 2 spares in the boot if we ever need.
We have a honda CRV massive boot and loads of cabin space

Citroen c5 aircross is amazing My partner hated French cars until he test drove this and fell in live with it Huge boot, 3 full sized back seats Problem is with newer model ford's is they break super easily I think its the engine partner told me but I forgot 🤣
We have a Skoda kodiaq, we went for the 7 seater option as room to grow as a family and also makes the boot space bigger for us as we have a big dog too! We love it, no complaints and plenty of space. Doesn’t break the bank either!!
We have a Nissan qashqai, loads of boot space. Loads of space in the back as well tbh
