Maternity pay

Hi everyone, I’m not sure if anyone has been in a similar situation, but if you have, your guidance would be greatly appreciated. I started an NHS job while I was two months pregnant and went on maternity leave without pay. My question is about my employment duration. By the time my maternity leave ends, I will have been employed for one year. I’m currently on six months of maternity leave, with six months remaining. Am I eligible to request maternity pay for the remaining six months, or is the employment duration only considered before starting maternity leave? Thank you!

When you say without pay do you mean OMP or SMP or both What I do know is It’s employment before maternity leave so for OMP you need to have worked for NHS continuously for 12 months before you hit 29 weeks (11th week prior to expected due date). SMP is worked for 6 months before 25 weeks (15 weeks before due date). You can start mat leave anytime after 29 weeks.

@Linda both i mean

No you can't get either payment if you hit the qualifying period of time once on maternity leave. You have to qualify from the first day of maternity leave in order to get the payments.
