At first, she gained a little. Then she lost weight within the first 2 weeks, then gained some back... The first month and a half felt like a yo-yo and so ultimately, I made the decision to just put her on formula. We started her on Happy Baby Organics, AND I continued to breastfeed- so she was essentially double feedings. Around this time last year, I had to travel ✈ for a few days for work- which totally killed what little supply I had left. So we stopped breastfeeding altogether, but I continued pumping until March. In February, we started her on solids and kept up with bottle feedings at regular intervals by increasing the ounces as well as time in-between feedings. Solids got squeezed in-between bottle intervals, which was tough... but we kept the schedule. Our BIGGEST challenges were (1) waking her up/ keeping her awake to finish bottles, (2) clearing out nasal congestion when she refused her bottles, (3) squeezing in solids without dropping bottles.
As it turns out, lactose intolerance may have also been an issue, so we transitioned her to lactose sensitivity formula- which helped with those fussy nights! Now that she's completely off the bottle, we offer her dairy-free Kids Ripple blended with banana 🍌 and oats + hemp hearts (sometimes 🥑 too) 4× a day in-between solid meals. This has helped keep her on 🎯 especially during teething when she eats less... Finally, we introduced pre-bedtime snacks to help her sleep better. Typically, we do half of a That's It 🍏🫐 bar OR a Fig Newtown and she stays 😴 for the most part.
Wow can you please share your journey so far.. like her food habits etc.. my son as well started on a low percentile and is now on the 15th.also he is EBF baby and I m not sure if that’s a reason he did not gain much. Being on 50th percentile is just commendable 😇
