@Sophie Really good point, thank you! X
If it helps we went lanzarote last year with a 7 month old and hired a car and the hire company provided the car seat and it was perfectly fine, it was an isofix x
@Sophie I was looking at this too! Did you then bring a normal buggy? We have our travel system and wondered if folding that down and checking it at the gate makes most sense to avoid buying a whole new pram? Thank you! X
We have a silver cross clic, it lays fully flat so is suitable from birth upwards and folds to cabin size luggage. When we travel we always hire a car seat with the car because I don’t trust the baggage handlers not to break my heavy expensive car seat 😂
We went to Lanzarote in December and little boy was 5 months we hired a private transfer from airport and requested a rear facing car seat and then took a travel buggy which he was able to lie fully flat in and sleep etc on our walks and lunches out.x
I definitely recommend a buggy she can lay down flat and have naps in. You don’t know when naps will be and it’s handy to have if she naps are while you’re eating etc. I also wouldn’t trust the sunbeds because of rolling off and it won’t let you relax then xx
I would get a yoyo with a z2 seat that clips on. You will have the yoyo for years and years after. I know everyone goes nuts about second hand car seats but I didn’t want to take my immaculate z2 so I bought another one on fb. The ladies house was spotless, a nice address with pristine kids and she promised me it had never been in an accident. It was £30!
I wouldn’t buy a doona, they aren’t great, are not actually considered very safe, and aren’t good for longevity. Go for a stroller that can lay flat such as silver cross, Joolz Aer+, babyzen yoyo (babyzen yoyo you’d have to buy an additional pack though so works out more expensive, Joolz just reclines flat from the start).
I went away with a 4 month old and just took a stroller pram. We didn’t hire a car I fairness but have you checked if you can add it onto your car rental? May be worth checking as it’ll be a lot for you to pack/have to think about plus the expense! I took her away at 10 months old as well and again didn’t bother with anything other than the travel buggy. The only issue I found was that they didn’t give me the buggy at the steps, they took it away to check it which really annoyed me as I’d bought it specifically so I could put her in it after getting off the plane 😅
@Ellie we bought a travel pram as wanted one any way for the hotter months as our travel system isn’t comfy without the thick base on but saw loads take their travel system, even if it’s in two pieces! They just put a tag on all the pieces xxx
We’ve just come back from Cape Verde with a 6 month old. I would definitely get a Babymoov for by the pool and light weight travel pushchair and then take your normal car seat or hire out with the car.
Remember that she will be rolling by then so it will be useful to have a way of "containing" her if you want to chill by the pool, etc
