I gave calpol half hour before the appointment to help with the pain of it and If your little one likes bing show them the vaccination episode this helped my little girl understand what was happening xxx

Following! I’m so nervous I don’t know what to say or how to approach it with my daughter xx

Oh god, they have a 3 year one?!

@Sarah yeah it’s the pre school booster it’s meant to be given at 3 years 4 months my sons 3 years 7 months and hasn’t had it yet so I better chase it 🙈

I was so worried about my daughters too but it went so much better than expected! I took her in a tshirt and zip up jacket so her arms were exposed easily and she sat on my lap facing me so the nurse could get to both arms nice and easy. The nurse explained it to her and I didn’t even know she’d had them. I didn’t tell her before hand as I know she’d be super anxious all morning and would probably protest going. One arm went slightly red and swollen but was fine within a few days and she didn’t complain of it. I might’ve just been super lucky but I’m sure you’ll probably feel worse than your little one like I did😅 good luck!

My daughter had hers at start of this month, she was totally fine for the first one then slightly flinched for the second one and that was it! She didn’t care at all, we brought her baby doll with us and the nurse pretended to give her baby an injection too and put a cotton wool ball and tape on her baby’s arm & gave her stickers so she was totally fine and loved that her baby had it too but she said it didn’t even hurt when I was expecting her to cry! Xx

The bing episode is very good. I talked about it loads with my little one. I also found out the name of the nurse who was doing it and always excitedly said we are going to see nurse Christine so he knew she wasn’t scary. Playing doctors and acting it out helped also as he kinda knew what to expect and showed him different stickers. In terms of the appointment just have Calpol and a favourite cuddly toy to hand for comfort and a bribe of chocolate never hurts.

@Maria ohh I'll chase it up too then. Thanks!

My little boy had his last week and there was absolutely no drama whatsoever. I told him the morning of the appointment that we were seeing the doctor to have some special medicine put in his arm. He dressed up in his doctor's outfit and gave an injection to me and Daddy to prove it wasn't scary. I bribed with the promise of going for hot chocolate and cake afterwards. He didn't cry once, chose his sticker and that was it!! He was a bit grumpy for a couple of days and after and he had 1 day of slightly upset tummy but no other reactions or temperature!! Good luck!!
