Car seat

I know someone has just posted about car seats but it reminded me to ask on here. I'm after some advice on car seats, my husband and girls (3.5 years old) had a crash on Thursday it was in my husband's car which is used for him to drive to work and drop the girls at nursery (a mile away) so to save the expense of 4 car seats we got a high back booster with full harness suitable from 9 months old used from about 2.5 years old, anyway the girls were perfectly safe and fine despite a combined 60mph crash. However I don't want a high back booster as I would prefer them in a full car seat, one twin is 17.5kg so in half a kg time she is meant to be in a normal seatbelt at 3.5years old I hate to think what would have happened if she was in a normal seatbelt. Anyway I'm after recommendations for a car seat that is extended rear facing past 4 years (they face forwards and backwards) and harness longer than 4 years.

Firstly! So glad they’re all ok!! How absolutely awful. I use Joie 360 spin and always have! Always find them super convenient for the boys ❤️

I just upgraded to 2 new extended rear facing seats for my son. One for my car and one for my partners van. There is a Facebook group that was great help picking seats. I got a besafe stretch and axkid movekid.

I don't think Extended Rear Facing car seats can be turned so they are forward facing, most of them max out at 25kg and then that's it you don't turn them I don't think. I know there are some that Rear face up to 36kg, I think it's called a BeSafe Stretch? But that's only from what I remember from car seat groups. We have an Axkid Minikid 2 that our 3.5 year old is currently in and that will last until 25kg Rear facing, she will be well well old enough for a HBB with seatbelt once she grows out of it so that's the plan for us as a next stage. From the comment above, I don't think 360 seats go past 18kg rearfacing so I don't think they would be very useful for you. No clue what they do for forward facing, I've never looked into it but that could be 18kg too I guess

Wow I’m glad they’re ok, that must’ve been scary! My boys in an Axkid Move which rear faces to 25kg/125cm, the newer version is the Movekid which rear faces to 36kg as does the Axkid Minikid and the Britax max-safe. They are all Swedish plus tested so the safest seats you can buy! I do love my Axkid and will definitely buy another for my youngest 😊

@Ashleigh hey, just incase you didn’t know, the Joie spin can only be used to 18kg x

I’ve got a britax max safe pro that’s up to 36kg for RF, so will last a number of years if your girl is 17.5kg now, until around 7yo.

I hope everyone is okay ❤️ There’s a group on here called car seat advice UK, give it a search. They’ve been great with car seat advice!

Thanks everyone, everyone is fine albeit my husband being a bit black and blue.
