Appointments

Just curious how many weeks are you and when was your last appointment? Im 37+3 and I haven’t had an appointment since before Christmas at 33 weeks. My next appointment is on Thursday at 37+5. I am anxious about not being seen for so long. By this time in my first pregnancy I already had an induction date for a weeks time. I’m high risk based on previous pregnancy. Diagnosed with gestational diabetes this pregnancy so my community midwife care was all removed and to attend the hospital clinic but I feel like I receive less care because of this.

Call your midwife and ask for an appointment! I have GD too so moved to hospital care and feel like you do miss out on a lot of the care outside of a scan to check baby and checking blood sugars. It feels like there isn't a place to ask all the other pregnancy questions. I made an appointment with my community midwife to talk through birth options etc and she told me if I'm not getting regular appointments to make one with her in between. I'm in NI and at this stage we should be getting appointments every 2 weeks, not sure what it's like in England

That doesn't seem right especially being high risk. I'm classed as high risk and under a specialist team for different reasons but I still see my midwife and at this stage the appointments are every two weeks. I should have had an appointment at 34 weeks and then one at 36 weeks but my appointments are a bit out of sync so had one at 33 and one this week at 35 weeks.

@Jayne thanks it’s definitely not a private space to ask questions when on a ward and everyone can hear each other! I haven’t heard anything from community midwife since it was ‘removed’ so wasn’t sure I’d be allowed to use them.

@Jess in my first pregnancy I was at the hospital for my bp twice a week towards the end and still had my community midwife appointments so definitely frustrating.

I'm low risk and have been seen every other week since 30 weeks pregnant. Id definitely question why you haven't been seen x

I went from 28 to 34 weeks but I'm not high risk or anything. Next appointment at 37 weeks tho was supposed to be 36 weeks but couldn't get an appointment till I'm 37 weeks. But I have had 3 healthy pregnancies and births so I'm not concerned with that. If your high risk i would definitely be chasing to be seen more often to make sure all is OK.

I'm still only being seen every 3 weeks but I'm happy enough as everything seems to be going smoothly. But it was the consultant who told me I can still make appointments with the midwife whenever I want, when I called up they were so lovely so definitely do! I went this week and got to talk through birth options and about collecting colostrum and got a kit to start once I'm 36-37 weeks. Feel much better and prepared now!

I’m 37+ 2 and I had my last appointment yesterday where I was booked in for my second c section but I have a feeling he’s gonna come before then been having a lot of new pains and I was supposed to have another diabetes test but they cancelled it because of how far I and said it’s pointless now

I’m 36+4 and had my last one at 34+5 on 2nd Jan and I’m low risk! My next one is day after tomorrow

Also have GD and I see both my midwife and consultant. I’m 35+4 and I had an appointment last week and another next week with both my midwife and consultants

My last appointment was 20th December and my next is 21st January (feels like ages between at this late stage). I’m 38 weeks this Friday. But I’m “low risk”.
