Its due to processing insurance. Insurance can be horrible slow on some things. I had a bill come 9 months later from a regular appointment 🙄. Went down a rabbit hole, "I paid this" and had to dig up bank statements, etc. And called the doctors office for a full breakdown of my account. And there.... Doctor visit Feb...insurance didn't process till Nov so the doctors office billed me as soon has everything was settled with insurance 🤦🏼♀️
I haven’t gotten mine at all yet
I learned this from the man that came to my old work to explain our insurance plan options. He said that when it comes to having a medical bill from a hospital you can sometimes request something called a settlement. Say your bill is $5,000 and you call the hospital billing department and ask them for a settlement amount. Maybe tell them that you can pay them $3,000 out right then and there (if you have it of course). They could agree and would then erase the rest of the amount you owe. It's like haggling. I just did it with my bill. Owed almost $6,000 and paid only almost $3,000.
@Kirsten did not know this! That is so good to know. Thank you 😊
@Kirsten do you think this would work a few months later if I’ve already started making payments on the bill?
What made me mad is I hit my out of pocket maximum so they couldn't really charge me much but the hospital bills the newborn separately so "she" owes money 😒!!! For her "admission" to the hospital...
@Grace oh my god yes!!! I just got one of those bills too like wtf
@Elsa I think it could. I NEVER hurts to try!! Some hospitals DONT do settlements. But always start low and see what they can do
If only it was that simple
