i’m exploring both, and keep going back and forth about it. not even sure that i want either! what are the benefits? is it worth the money? if a midwife can provide both medical expertise AND emotional support, why not do that? ahhh!! i’m 16 weeks tomorrow so not in a rush to make a decision. curious what everyone’s thoughts are!
Two totally different things. My midwife provided 0 emotional support or guidance. Treated me exactly as a doctor would. I believe if I would've had a doula I wouldn't have fallen victim to the cascade of intervention and ended up with csection. If it's your first, chances are you have no idea how to advocate for yourself. I took birthing classes and did my research and still failed in the moment. If you can afford a doula, do your research and hire a great one.
I just heard of Doula ATX or Doula Austin, I plan to look into them. Not sure how pricey they are though!
Both. A midwife for your baby and delivery. A doula for you.
