Roller skating roller 🛼 in Daycare ?

At my daughters daycare they taught them how to do roller skating in class, the teacher held her hand but I was scared she could fall. Do you think roller skating is ok ? My husband said it's like PE since they can't go outside because it's so cold.

I personally would have a problem with it, especially if they didn’t ask first. My daughter has a Chiari malformation and I do not let her do anything that could mean her hurting her head.

I’d expect there to be a wavier or something needing to be signed off on, but I’d sign my son up so fucking fast

Did they ask the parents ahead of time? Did they make the children wear a helmet?

If they wore helmets and a permission slip was handed out to parents, I would definitely be OK with it.

If they wore helmets/elbow pads etc. then I wouldn’t have a problem with it! Will be something we will teach our boys anyway as my fiancé and I both love roller staking(blades) /skate boarding 🥰

Last time I went roller skating I almost ended up in a&e as ended up face down on the floor. I guess it depends on what safeguarding they put in place.

Omg I would love that as long as they had helmets and knee/elbow pads! 🪩🛼

Just curious, why would you ask parents first?

If they were the proper equipment and they asked first I’d be okay with it I hated not being able to roller skate as a kid lol I almost broke my ass on my birthday at 8 cuz of it

@Grace some ppl don’t want to risk their kids breaking anything and you should always ask parents first before doing something new. You never know if someone wouldn’t be into it and it makes a parent feel safer about the place. If someone didn’t ask me I would not feel comfortable with them.

Honestly I think I'd be more upset that I missed the experience of getting to teach him how to skate.

@đź©· Patience đź©· I get that to a certain point. But we have to remember that it's about the kids not the parents. A child can fall over and break their leg from walking down the street while holding mummy's hand - injuries happen, it's life. Stopping them from skating doesn't protect them in any way it just makes them miss out. Look end of the day you do you but I think it's important to consider if it's our fear as adults stopping our kids from doing things (or because we want to be the ones to do it first - which is understandable! But is it fair?)

@Grace cuz it’s my child & its risky

@Grace it’s a daycare not a regular school these kids are young lol I think they’ll live

I'd love it if our nursery did this! How fun!!

@Sav ❥ my mother had chiari malformation. How did you or your doctor know to get your daughter checked for that?

@Dana Lew So they Didn't tell the parents beforehand and they did not make them wear a helmet or anything.

@Grace Because a child can get seriously hurt by falling on skates. If they had worn a helmet, I would have no problem..

They didn’t wear protection???

@Tiffany if they didn't have helmets on then that's a concern as they haven't followed correct procedure to take them.
