Would you leave your pram/stroller outside? (Doctors)

The other day I went to the GP/Doctors with my 4 month old son, when I got into the office I was notified that strollers had to be left in stroller parking outside in the parking lot of the doctors office. I did apologize and said I didn’t see the sign (I was the only person waiting so it wasn’t packed). They stated that they ask parents to leave strollers outside though they are liable for anything. My question is, would you leave your stroller outside unattended where you cannot see it? Or should this even be a rule? They did state that parents can buy a cable lock… but I was thinking of the parent(s) that may of given birth to twins or even those parents that may not be able to carry everything in. I would be personally worried about my new stroller getting taken (yes I know I could buy a lock) but should we have to do such just to go see the doctor for our baby? Next time I will have to get my husband to get a day off so he can wait outside with it.

Should say they AREN’T liable to theft or damages

That’s a really strange rule and I wonder why it’s even in place. Is there limited space or something? But thinking back to when my son was a baby I don’t think I ever took his pram when we went to the doctors, we either used a sling or I kept him in his car seat from the car, so there are definitely other options rather than your husband having to take the day off to watch the pram.

I walk to the doctor's (limited parking and it's really close to us anyway) so I take the pram. Sling could be an option but I now have a 4½yo, 2yo and pregnant with our third, so the thought of having to keep control of 2 young children along a busy road with a newborn in a sling is really not appealing! Unless there's a major issue with prams in the doctor's surgery (old building with very limited space or something) then it seems like a daft rule

We bought a cable lock and would recommend you to do so. Sometimes you will find yourself having to leave your pram in an open parking area because there is no space indoors. It could be in restaurants, museums, farms, your nursery, community centre. It is better to carry one in the nappy bag and be prepared.

We recently went to a theme park where we needed to leave strollers outside some attractions; I brought a cable lock.

@Nire Definitely options 100% 😊 just sadly he has a hate on for carriers haha and unfortunately we don’t have a car at the moment.

We’re members of a museum where we cannot bring strollers in some attractions. We use our cheapest stroller, carry valuables in a backpack or Fanny pack and don’t think about it.

@Leila thats a good idea to have a extra stroller

No I take my strollers with me they’re very expensive I don’t leave a bugaboo anywhere 🫠

Would never leave our expensive one anywhere (and not even with a cheap bike lock they are super easy to cut) - so I take our cheap one anywhere I know I have to leave it The doctors is a bit weird tho and am surprised they have this rule - is it an old tight building or something?

I was talking about this the other day with my husband! Because I want to get one of those bougie wagons but if we go places I wouldn’t want to leave it unattended

Seen it before, we still walked in with the stroller especially in the beginning when he was always sleeping, like who are you to tell me what to do with my buggy? There are a lot of mothers who still have a crakhead mentality out here, are they going to stop them while they rob my pram? NOPE.

My gp told me when I was freshly postpartum after a c section and I’ve never been so confused. Sorry - you want a freshly postpartum, just had major operation to carry her child non stop and the nappy bag, knowing full well I’ll be waiting longer because you’re never on time, even though your surgery is empty and nobody is here? No 🙂

I think you might need to look for another GP 😅 I never had an issue going in with my buggy and I had to use a lift occasionally so it was an added expense for them in a way 😅 But to be honest I never thought too deeply about leaving it behind when I go to a museum or a coffee shop (tbf most of the time there'd be a stationary employee nearby). I occasionally even leave it in front of the grocery store if I know I'm just grabbing one or two things. I never take valuables with me though so losing the buggy would be the biggest and only expense. I live in a small place so I kind of feel like I can trust the people who'd walk by 😅

@Nicola same thing happened to me on my first post partum appointment to see my midwife. It was on the 2nd floor of the building, they had no loft so had to leave my pram under the stairs and walk up 3 flights of stairs after a C-section carrying my son 9lbs and the diaper bag
