Yes, I was told on Wednesday. I've got my consultation next week on Tuesday. They will focus on diet first. Less carbs and sugar more protein and fibre. Try walking after meals, too. I spoke to my midwife about it, and that's what she recommended. I hope that helps x

Luckily I have my midwife appointment on Wednesday anyway so hopefully she'll go though it then, but thank you that does help, I'm collecting a pack thing tomorrow so might have some more information then xxx

The gestational diabetes UK Facebook page and website are fantastic. I felt so overwhelmed when I was diagnosed but the info on there is great. I've remained diet controlled for the last 10 weeks so I'm just hoping I can keep it up till baby gets here.

@Alix how have you found being diet controlled? I have so many sweet and carb cravings just a little worried 🤣

Once you get your head around it it's not too bad. Just need to pair carbs well with protein/fat. You can have sweet treats as well. GD UK has recipes some of which are free. I've tried a few cheesecakes which have definitely hit the spot.

@Alix, any reccomendations on which ones. I'm on day 4 of my controlled diet, and I can't stop thinking about sweet treats and pizza, lol

I've made the chocolate mousse quite a few times as it's dead quick. And the Terry's chocolate orange cheesecake is really nice but takes abit more time. I've had pizza before and come in on target. Had very thin base and lots of cheese topping and garlic mayo. Walk after. X

Walking after eating is said to be able to lower your sugar by up to 2mmol, which is huge! So I definitely recommend trying to walk after every meal. Also don’t rely on willpower to avoid your favourite sweets or carbs, find recipes to make modified versions of your favourite foods and try to always be full (of healthy foods!) that way cravings have less power. Good luck!

@Alix I've done this and omg doesn't it make a difference! Can have a a little surgery treat at work is amazing!
