If you’re going to bottle feed, a bottle sterilizer is a must for me. It’s my most used item We got a wipe warmer, and has also been great to not get peed on I also got a mini fridge to keep pumped milk and snacks in for myself We also got a couple extra swaddles because we had so much baby laundry the first month
The item I’ve used the most is definitely my ergobaby bouncer! He wasn’t too interested in it his first month, but it’s been so helpful having somewhere to put him while eating and brushing my teeth, etc
I second a bouncer! Even over swing. You can easily move it around the house
Stroller with reasonable amount or large amount of storage. Crib - I like our travel crib cause I just use it as a pack and play throughout my house. But any crib that is safe will be best. Breastfeeding pillow - I used my breast friend. (That’s if you plan on breast feeding) it helped my back a lot. Cold brew or your favorite caffeine on hand. Lots of frozen soup, stew, casseroles, breakfast and regular burritos in the freezer. A peri bottle, witch hazel pads, women’s adult diapers, cotton or wool breast pads (buy if you plan on breast feeding, they help reduce chances of infection). My personal favorite was my own hospital gown. It made birthing and walking around comfortable but still functional. And crocs or washable slides. Nothing leather or fabric in case of bleeding, I wanted to clean them easier.
If you think I’m joking about these diapers, ask other moms.
Velcro swaddles were the only reason we got sleep the first couple months lol +1 to a bouncer. We tried our friend's Baby Bjorn bouncer and our baby loved it. We got a cheaper one on Amazon (Baby Delight) and it was a game changer. The Fisher Price piano mat was a necessity for us too. You don't need it immediately but it honestly was a necessity for us for tummy time.
I only just recently got one, but I got a bottle warmer. I didn't think we needed it, but as my son is eating more and more (6 months old now), it takes longer to warm his bottles how we were doing it, and he was getting upset (we keep them in the fridge because I pump and we bottle feed). We got the Dr. Brown's insta-feed bottle warmer ($35 canadian on amazon). He has 8 oz bottles when he eats, and his bottles are warm in 2 minutes or less vs the previous 30 minutes (we were putting boiling water in a mug and the bottle in the mug). It uses steam to heat the bottles, and uses very little water.
