New to ovulation tests.

It’s my first month using ovulation tests (We aren’t TTC yet but trying to make sure my ovulation window matches up with the app I use to track my periods). According to my app, my fertile window only started yesterday and I’ve had a high reading this morning. According to my app, Friday is ovulation day. Do you usually get a few days of high readings before peak? Another app has put today’s reading as peak so I’m a bit confused. Usually when I ovulate I do get pain in my right side so I kinda know when it’s happening and I also keep an eye on mucus change (I’ve tracked my periods for 5 years now).

Usually you only get about 2 days of high before peak, but it can differ. The apps really aren’t reliable for predictions. For me flo was really bad at finding my fertile window even when it was roughly the same each month. Definitely keep testing each cycle as that’s the best way to figure out when to bd!

@Ali thank you for this! I’ve found the app has always been somewhat right for me and my mucus has changed as I approach predicted ovulation. Thank you I will do, I originally didn’t want to test every single cycle as I don’t want to put too much stress on it when we are trying in a few months x

It varies a lot by person. I get a really rapid peak, like less than 12 hours. Some people get a couple of days build up. When you're trying to find peak you want to test 2-3 times a day ideally

@Charley thank you! I’m pretty sure I have a couple of days in the lead up to peak going off mucus changes but wanted to be sure with the tests

@Jess that’s totally fair. I had more anxiety if I didn’t because I was worried about not ovulating 😂 I think if you test for a few cycles and find the peak falls really close each month you’re probably good to not worry about testing each time 😊
