Please don’t worry, the risk is so so minimal. So many women have pregnancies without even realising they have group b step as it is not routinely tested for in the UK. You will be offered antibiotics and your baby will be closely monitored for signs of infection. Your baby will be absolutely fine!
Read Sarah Wickham’s blog and book on group B strep. Make an informed decision on whether you think antibiotics are needed.
Yes I had it, but they didn’t even make a big deal about it. Had no idea what it was and they just had me hooked up to antibiotics during labor.
Yeh same they don’t even routinely test for it, I had it in both my pregnancies it’s honestly absolutely fine x
I’ve had it and as soon as my contractions started I had to ring them and tell them I was strep b positive so they’d have enough time putting the drip in before the baby came. Nothing to worry about at all, after labour my legs were just swollen but it went after 2/3 days x
I had it and didnt know until around a month after giving birth. Was just left to it with some antibiotics, baby was fine but wasn't checked after being told I had it
I had it an my boy is perfectly fine they give you antibiotics when you give birth
I had it with my first had plenty of time for antibiotics and she’s a perfectly healthy 2 year old!
I had this while pregnant with my little girl, i had to phone hospital soon as my labour started to say I had strep B and I had to get an antibiotic drip while in labour to flush the infection once she was born she was absolutely fine, I wasn’t allowed to breastfeed my baby because of the antibiotic, my girl is now 7 and she’s absolutely amazing 😻 don’t worry about it xx
I tested positive after my waters broke I didn’t have a clue and was fine I ended up being induced via the drip and they just did antibiotics too all fine for me xx
Thank you all. So reassuring ❤️
Me and my baby was all good. Just get the antibiotics when you are in labor
I've had it and it ended up being bad for me because they forgot to put me on antibiotics. Whoever is there with you, make sure they ask if they gave you antibiotics for it (they've given me something for dehydration and I've mistaken it for antibiotics, and they've only put me on when my husband asked 😵💫). My baby was untouched though thankfully
